Circle K International began in 1936 as a small organization in Washington State College. From there we have continued to expand and grow while delivering our three tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship. Here you can see our history of an organization as a whole.

Timeline of Circle K International
1936 |
Circle K was established at Washington State College By the Kiwanis Club of Pullman, Washington
where it was originally started as a fraternity |
1947 |
Circle K changed from a fraternity to a service organization and chartered the first Circle K Club at Carthage College

1955 |
Circle K reaches 147 Clubs and receives its first official endorsement for Kiwanis International where Circle k adopts the Kiwanis beliefs of Service, Fellowship, and Leadership

1957 |
The board of trustees accepted a proposal to allow the establishment of Circle K Districts The very first Circle K District, Texas-Oklahoma District, was officially recognized

1973 |
After much debate Circle K became the first co-ed organization in the Kiwanis Family and allows females to join

1975 |
Gregory Faulkner was elected as International president, marking the first African American international president
|
1982 |
CKI Surpasses 14,500 Members, showing the increased growth and interest in the club
|
1984 |
Susan E. McClernon was elected to be the first female international president of Circle K International
|
2005 |
Marks the 50th Anniversary of Circle K
|
2007 |
CKI creates the fundraiser Saving Lives:, The Six Cents Initative, which focuses on getting clean water to children who need it
